The New Century International Elementary Junior Beta Club participated in Socktober, a nationwide campaign started by Kid President to collect new socks, blankets and toiletries for the homeless.  The club was able to collect and donate several hundred new items to Fayetteville’s homeless shelters.IMG_0057IMG_0062

Mrs. Gaines and contest winners New Century International Elementary School holds a annual Recycled Fashion Show as part of its annual Earth Day celebration.  Students in grades K-5 constructed their own fashions out of reclaimed and recycled materials and model them during a school assembly.  The designs have included tiaras made of bottle caps, newspaper dresses, an ironed plastic apron and billowy skirts made completely of shopping bags.  Art teacher

Open House 2013 3 New Century International Elementary School made Cumberland
County history when it welcomed its first classes of
kindergartners to its Chinese immersion program.  The students will
learn all of their core subjects in Mandarin.  By the time they
complete fifth grade, these students should be fluent in both Chinese 
and English and will be exceptionally well-prepared to 
contribute to our global economy.
