Open House 2013 3 New Century International Elementary School made Cumberland
County history when it welcomed its first classes of
kindergartners to its Chinese immersion program.  The students will
learn all of their core subjects in Mandarin.  By the time they
complete fifth grade, these students should be fluent in both Chinese 
and English and will be exceptionally well-prepared to 
contribute to our global economy.

The first day of school for the 2016 – 2017 school year is Monday, August 29th 2014.  Monday, August 29th we will have our staggered kindergarten entry for only last names beginning with (A to M).  Tuesday, August 30th the staggered kindergarten entry are for only last names beginning with (N to Z).  Wednesday all kindergarten students attend school.  Friday September 2 all of Pre-K will attend school.

Mrs. Gaines and contest winners New Century International Elementary School holds a annual Recycled Fashion Show as part of its annual Earth Day celebration.  Students in grades K-5 constructed their own fashions out of reclaimed and recycled materials and model them during a school assembly.  The designs have included tiaras made of bottle caps, newspaper dresses, an ironed plastic apron and billowy skirts made completely of shopping bags.  Art teacher

New Century International Elementary Mandarin Chinese Immersion School of Choice
kidsglobeNew Century International Elementary is proud to offer a Language Immersion Program for students who will be entering Kindergarten for the 2016-2017 school year.  Through this program students will learn to understand, speak, read and write in Mandarin Chinese as well as English.  For more information read below, or call the school at (910)487-2340.  All students will need to complete a Choice School Application and mail or fax to the Student Assignment Office by February  17 2015.  Enrollment will begin January 5th 2015, and space is limited for this program.  To enroll your child in the program, please visit the school to complete registration between January 5th and February 17th, 2015.

Announcement about Career Day

Students at New Century International Elementary School (NCIES) will participate in our Fourth Annual Global Career Awareness Day on Friday, May 1 from 9:00 a.m. until – 12:00 p.m. NCIES strives to provide our students with meaningful, educational experiences that foster learning and motivate them to become productive members of our society. Our goal is to get student to want to stay in school. Professionals from various fields will visit us to share their educational background along with their professional experiences.

Cat In The Hat

“Read Across America” will be here Monday February 27 to March 3. We will have special dress-up days each day (papers to be sent home with students will be in your boxes tomorrow). We will also have a school goal of 4,000 passed tests (85% or higher) for the entire week (Monday-Friday). Each day on the Panda News, we will announce how close we are to the goal.
