Cat In The Hat

“Read Across America” will be here Monday February 25 to March 3. We will have special dress-up days each day (papers to be sent home with students). We will also have a school goal of 4,000 passed tests (85% or higher) for the entire week (Monday-Friday). Each day on the Panda News, we will announce how close we are to the goal.

Check out our Read Across America Schedule.

New Century International Elementary School made Cumberland County history when it welcomed its first classes of kindergartners to its Chinese immersion program.  The students will learn all of their core subjects in Mandarin.  By the time they complete fifth grade, these students should be fluent in both Chinese and English and will be exceptionally well-prepared to contribute to our global economy.  It focuses on development of fluent language skills in a foreign language with 90 percent of the instructional day spoken in a foreign language.  It offers exposure to other cultures and languages.  It also promotes acceptance of different nationalities by encouraging the development    of an understanding of cultures and customs.
